The Eastern Province continues to shine, maintaining its top position in the Grade 12 pass rate for four consecutive years. Among the success stories emerging from the region is that of 18-year-old Ruth Nkhowani from Lundazi’s Kanjala Compound, who has hailed the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for transforming her life and making education accessible to all, regardless of financial background.
Ruth, who scored an outstanding 6 points in her Grade 12 examinations, is a proud CDF beneficiary.

Her father, Mr. Matthews Nkhowani, a farmer, expressed deep appreciation to the government for the initiative, noting that it has helped bridge gender disparities by offering equal educational opportunities to both boys and girls.

“As a farmer, I could only do so much to support my daughter’s education, but the CDF changed everything. Three years ago, I was worried about her future, but today, she stands as a shining example of what government support can achieve,” he said.

Mr. Nkhowani urged parents, especially those in rural areas, not to let financial challenges hinder their children’s education. He emphasized that the government’s prioritization of education through the CDF has opened doors for every child to dream big and achieve more.

Similarly, 18-year-old Ngulube Aaron from Mnyamazi Ward in Lundazi District also celebrated his success, scoring an impressive 7 points in his Grade 12 examinations. He expressed heartfelt gratitude for the CDF initiative, describing it as a life-changing opportunity for many students who once faced the harsh reality of dropping out due to lack of school fees.

“The Constituency Development Fund has made it possible for students to concentrate on their studies without worrying about how to settle school fees,” he said.

After completing Grade 9, Ngulube faced uncertainty about continuing his education due to financial challenges. However, the CDF intervention gave him renewed hope and a chance to pursue his dreams.

“At first, I didn’t believe the funds were real, but I am now a proud beneficiary. The support I received through CDF enabled me to complete my studies at Chama Secondary School,” he added.

Ngulube’s remarkable performance stands as a testament to the transformative power of the CDF in uplifting young people and promoting equal access to education. He encouraged fellow youths to take advantage of the opportunities provided through the fund, emphasizing that education remains a powerful tool for personal growth and community development.
